Music is a long-time affair for Juliet Pang. With a career spanning more than 2 decades, Juliet’s story started when she was first signed by a recording company in Singapore as a pop singer. She had the honour and pleasure of collaborating with some of the industry’s best, whether in songwriting, lending her voice to the theme song of reputable radio station in Singapore or being the ethereal voice in the end credits of the hauntingly beautiful cult movie ‘Eating Air’.
In 2003, she co-founded a music school, Replugged Music in Singapore. It is during this time she discovered her deeper interest in mentoring and coaching singer-songwriters to carve out a career for themselves. She went on to further music education to equip herself to create and conduct lessons more effectively. Since then, she has added to her existing Bachelor of Arts, a Diploma of Popular Vocals Teaching (London College of Music) as well as a Graduate Certificate in Piano (Australian Institute of Music).
Once under the tutelage of New York-schooled pianist Mario Serio as well as the celebrated musician Dave MacRae who had worked with numerous jazz greats, to name a few, Clark Terry, Annie Ross, Ronnie Scott, Chet Baker and Jon Hendricks, Juliet reconfirmed her love for jazz music and the standards. She finds great joy and freedom in improvisation, and immense beauty in being able to tell stories through song.
Today, Juliet is based in Boorloo - Perth, Australia. She offers music and voice lessons to a select group of aspiring singer-songwriters. She is dedicated to helping them walk closer to their dreams. On the performance end, she enjoys playing jazz and latin standards. In appreciation of her own Southeast Asian culture and roots, she also performs an extensive Mandarin and Cantonese repertoire consisting of Shanghai Jazz standards, and is not shy to throw in a handful of beautiful classics in Tagalog, Japanese and Bahasa Indonesia.
