The band play infectious music from the 1920’s-1940’s from the likes of Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller and many other greats, along with some of our own authentic original songs. Swingin’ at the savoy are sure to get the party going and keep the dance floor alight!
You can catch Swingin’ at the Savoy performing in traditional jazz venues and playing to diverse audiences in clubs, festivals, river cruises and family events. The music chosen is enjoyed by a very broad audience and the level of musicianship appeals to enthusiastic jazz fans and non-jazz audiences alike. Most importantly, the band captivate their audiences and their shows include musical surprises and audience participation.
The individual band members have a great deal of experience in playing many styles of jazz and are well sought-after musicians, both in Western Australia and overseas.
Swingin’ at the Savoy can provide an entertaining, swinging dance party atmosphere; but are equally comfortable providing a pleasant ambience, when more relaxed background music is required. The band have many show styles, including:
Swingin’jazz party - Suitable for venues, corporate parties. Great for dancing. A fun show with audience participation. Also popular with festivals and private functions.
Relaxed dinner show - More of a relaxed atmosphere, suitable for corporate dinner/dinner dance. Can be a mix of dinner show music and jazz party music for later in the evening.
The Stories of Swing - This popular event was premiered at the Fringe World festival and consists of funny stories about the famous jazz musicians and songs. The show also includes two dancers to perform the authentic dances which go with the music. It can be performed as a one-hour show, or as a two-hour show.
Themed roaring ’20’s“Gatsby” styled show - This is a jazz/dance party, with an emphasis on music from the 1920’s-a popular theme this year!
Roving Band - Swingin’ at theSavoy can also perform as a roving band, playing outside or inside and moving from place to place, performing songs. This format has been used for many outdoor events and street festivals!
