Penny Shaw

~ Bio

Described as “potentially one of the best MCs we are blessed to have in Perth” and “absolutely hilarious with incredible stage presence,” Penny Shaw’s quick wit, warmth and ability to think on her feet make her one of Western Australia’s most sought-after Masters of Ceremonies.

With over 30 years of stage experience, Penny is exceptionally comfortable in front of audiences of all sizes - from intimate community events to crowds of 5,000+. She has been writing and presenting her own shows since founding Daisy Productions in 2002 and has produced and appeared in countless events throughout Perth and regional WA.

Recent highlights include:

● MC for the 30th Anniversary of Opera in the Park (audience 5,000+, live streamed statewide)

● MC for Freeze Frame Opera’s Christmas at the Quarry 2021- 2025

● MC for Cottesloe Carols by Candlelight 2025

● Australia Day celebrations and major council events across WA

● Playing Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance for West Australian Opera (2025)

Penny brings a rare added value as “The MC with the High C” seamlessly incorporating live singing where appropriate. Whether leading a rousing singalong, delivering a ceremonial anthem, or elevating a gala concert moment, she offers clients the polish of a professional soprano alongside sharp, engaging hosting.

Her performance career spans appearances at Perth Concert Hall, Mandurah Performing Arts Centre, Broome Opera Under the Stars, Shinju Matsuri Festival, Perth International Arts Festival, Vienna Pops New Year’s Eve concerts, Perth Symphony Orchestra, Fremantle Chamber Orchestra, Fringe World Festival, and numerous corporate and civic events.

As one half of award-winning soprano duo DivaLicious, Penny has appeared as a finalist on Australia’s Got Talent, featured on The Voice and Channel 7’s The Morning Show, and performed everywhere from luxury cruise ships to the Sydney Opera House.

Academically, Penny holds a Master of Arts from Oxford University and a Distinction in Radio Broadcasting Skills from Edith Cowan University. She co-presents the long-running Arts Collage program on Radio Fremantle and produces and hosts the popular podcast Diary of a (teenage) Diva.
